Match Report

AFC Sudbury v Coggeshall Town, 19.09.20

Match Report. Thanks to Jim Hughes for writing this report.

Coggeshall attacked straight from the kick off and Matthew Price’s free kick struck the crossbar from just outside the penalty area. Sudbury then attacked down the right with Ellis Girling and his cross was only partially cleared by the Town defence, it fell kindly for Kane Munday who put Sudbury in front after 8 minutes. Sudbury nearly increased their lead after 24 minutes when a Billy Holland effort rebounded from the crossbar. Coggeshall then had to make a substitution with Tev Allan being replaced by Ethan Kessell. Coggeshall had a good chance to equalise when Nnamdi Nwachuku was brought down just outside the penalty area, but Matthew Price’s free kick struck the wall.

HALF TIME: AFC Sudbury 1 – 0 Coggeshall Town.

Sudbury scored again within a minute of the restart when Joe Grimwood headed home a corner. On 65 minutes, Coggeshall made a double substitution with Jack Simmons and Max Booth replacing Ross Wall and Jake Turner. Four minutes later, Coggeshall pulled a goal back through Nnamdi Nwachuku. Coggeshall had the better of the time remaining, a Milo Grimes shot caused panic in the home defence and the match ended with an injury to Matthew Price and the Sudbury defence holding out helped by two good saves from their goalkeeper.

FULL TIME: AFC Sudbury 2 –1 Coggeshall Town.
