Match Report

Tilbury’s squad came to West Street ready for a contest, with the South Essex side looking to take three points back home with them.

Tilbury were quick to get going, with a quick breakthrough in the early minutes of the game forcing Ash Jones to make a save just four minutes in. Some fantastic defensive play from the Town put them back on track, as a great forward attempt saw a volley from Ross Wall sent just over the crossbar.

Coggeshall demonstrated some great passing, a reminder of the previous weeks form at Hullbridge. More amazing chances came the Seedgrowers way, as a brilliant, long range attempt from George Cocklin forced the goalkeeper to tip the ball over the bar.

Coggeshall continued some magnificent forward player, which seemed to worry the Tilbury defenders, as the referee saw nothing wrong with a tackle on Tevan Ask in the box. Shortly after Tilbury’s Brian Moses tapped the ball into the mouth of the goal despite Joe Claridge’s fantastic clearance off the line, with the linesman questionably signalling for a goal.

The town’s next chance came when a rocket of a shot from Rob Harvey was swung just inches wide of the post. Soon after Aryton Coley was dragged to the floor just outside the box, and the referee had no choice but to book him.

HALF TIME: Coggeshall Town 0 – 1 Tilbury

With subs from both sides, Coggeshall looked to make a difference with the scoreline, and Tilbury wanted to finish the job. Not longer after Marc Gorbell saw red after he took out Moses, being the last defender. The South Essex side saw an opportunity as just after the Tilbury midfielder dropped after an altercation with Coley, despite him not being anywhere near him at he time.

Tilbury yet again made another substitute to see out the performance, with just ten minutes left to go. With Smith putting on Dexter Peter in extra time, he looked to put on some fresh legs to get up for a corner. With Ash Jones up for it as well, the Town put everything in the line to salvage a point.

The ball swung in and was quickly cleared, but Jones hung onto the ball, sending it onto the box, as Josh Pollard reached it, sending towards the goal mouth, before it came off the Tilbury defender and hit the back off the net! A goal for Coggeshall in the final minute of the game saw the home bench erupt and the away bench devastated.
