Match Preview – Barking

The SeedGrowers welcome Justin Gardner’s Barking side to West Street for their first Essex Senior Cup match of the season, which is actually the third round of the competition with both sides receiving byes for the earlier rounds.

Both sides have had a mixed start to the season and are currently separated in the Bostik League table by three points. To date, Barking have played nine league games, losing five, drawing one and winning three games – leaving them with ten points and in fifteenth place in the table. Barking have not had the best of form in cup competitions this season, losing in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup to Bowers & Pitsea, whilst losing on Penalties to Brentwood in the Velocity Trophy. To cap off a miserable run of cup results, Barking were then dumped out of the FA Trophy by Hayes & Yeading in the Preliminary Round.

Tonight’s meeting is the first match between the two sides this season, however Coggeshall will travel to Barking in just over two weeks time on Saturday 10 November in the Bostik League North.

Barking have scored fifteen goals in thirteen games this season, whereas the SeedGrowers have already scored twenty nine goals in seventeen games.

Darelle Russell is Barking’s top scorer so far with four goals to his name, Ross Wall is Coggeshall’s leading goalscorer with seven goals in fifteen appearances.

In their sixteen games, Barking have used twenty seven players, compared to the SeedGrowers who have used thirty players.
