Match Report

Saturday’s fixture saw a top of the league clash between the Seedgrowers and Bury Town, with both sides fighting for the top spot, the game was set to be challenge for either team.

With poor weather on the day, the surface wasn’t exactly ideal for either sides, as the ninety minute fixture was expected to be a messy one. With Bury putting on the pressure early, the home side attempted to make the match difficult right from the off, taking an extremely physical stance.

Despite the obvious challenge, the Seedgrowers came into the fixture fighting, putting in a big performance, and certainly causing the Suffolk side a lot of trouble in the final third. With Coggeshall panicking the home team, a fantastic chance was scarpered away following a busy battle for the ball, seeing a strike being sent just over the bar.

Soon after, Eoin McKeown made a brilliant run, skipping past the defence following a fantastic through ball. Despite this, the linesman saw issue with the assist, despite the defender coming from in front of the striker to attempt to win the ball.

The next play saw a great strike from Rob Harvey tipped inches wide of the post, with the Seedgrowers giving the home side’s defence a hard time the whole of the first half. Soon after Bury came on the attack, whipping a ball into the box, which was tucked into the bottom left corner by Cemal Ramadan to make it one-nil.

HALF TIME: Bury Town 1-0 Coggeshall Town

With Bury looking to draw the game to a close after the final half was over, Coggeshall were trailing and looking for a equaliser. With a great forward run down the right side, Tyler Brampton struck the ball from the edge of the box, with an absolute rocket unfortunately just going wide of the post.

The Seedgrowers kept their fantastic attacking form going, with several great opportunities coming and going; however the play from Bury was also there, who also had some brilliant opportunities. With Coggeshall’s passing play being nothing short of superb, we seemed to control the game in the second half, with George Cocklin picking out some great balls into the final third.

With a forceful movement into the box, the Seedgrowers broke towards the six yard box, with the Bury defence hastily attempting to remove the ball, and finally winning a goal kick for themselves. Justice finally came for Coggeshall ad a great header from Ross Wall sat still on the goal line, leaving Rob Harvey to tap the ball into the back of the net, bringing Coggeshall level.

With a panicked back four, the Bury defence was eager to not concede any further, as Harvey was fouled outside the box, and was rightfully awarded a free kick, and a booking was banded out. With not long left, the game came to a close, as the top of the league clash ended even for both sides.
