Match Report

With Saturday’s fixture seeing three new additions to the starting line-up, the game looked set to be entertaining, as the promising new signings looked to bagged a debut win.

With extremely windy conditions affecting the fixture, both teams were forced to deal with the problems that led from it, most notably when a long ball from behind the half-way line almost ended up in the home side’s net.

With play getting started, Coggeshall saw a series of chances come and go, and were unlucky not to capitalise from the efforts. Half an hour in, a fantastic cross from Rob Harvey was whipped in, but Coley was unable to reach the fast ball.

With half-time approaching quickly, a brilliant attempt from Tev was just about saved, after a superb scissor kick from the captain was spilled by the keeper, and the following strike from Dexter Peter was deflected over the bar by the Hullbridge defender.

The final chance of the half involved no Coggeshall players whatsoever, as an extremely poorly placed header from the home side’s centre back almost crept in, but was saved only by the woodwork.

HALF TIME: Hullbridge Sports 0-0 Coggeshall Town

With the second half underway, an early, off the ball altercation saw Hullbridge’s Joseph Wright sent off and George Cocklin booked. Play resumed after some time and consultion with the linesman as Ash Jones sends the ball down the pitch, but was stopped by a handball from the Hullbridge midfielder.

Shortly after a great run from Dexter Peter saw the Town awarded a penalty after he was cleared out in the box. Debutant Joseph sent the ball into the bottom left of the goal, leaving Coggeshall sitting 1-0 up.

A clearly frustrated home side received a series of bookings as they carelessly fouled the Seedgrowers, and with Hullbridge’s manager sending on a stream of substitutes, he made his intent clear to pull back the scoreline.

With play getting towards the end of the game, Coggeshall saw some fantastic chances missed, despite the wonderful performance they had exhibited throughout the whole match. With Coggeshall making final changes to see out the game, the fixture drew to a close, An absolutely brilliant show from the Seedgrowers.
