Match Report

The SeedGrowers travelled to Tilbury, to take on a side who have revitalised their season since a chance a manager just before Christmas. First Team Manager, Graeme Smith was forced to make several changes to his starting eleven, with defenders Tyler Brampton & Joshua Pollard we’re absent due to injury, whilst midfielder, George Cockling was completing the last of his two match suspension.

The Town started on the front foot and looked at home at Chadfields, a location where other teams have struggled to pick up points this season. Coggeshall took the lead, through an unlikely source after just seven minutes. A corner kick from Conor Hubble, bounced its way through the penalty area to find an unmarked, George Allen who headed home his first goal for the club from six yards. Things then then improved for the SeedGrowers, who caught their hosts off guard with a swift counter attack. A throw-in from Curtis Haynes-Brown was chested down by striker Ross Wall, inside his own half, Wall took one touch before playing a superb forward pass with his right to Michael Gyasi. The home defence were unable to keep up with the speed of, Gyasi who took one touch before bending the ball in to the back of the net, beyond Rhys Madden, the Tilbury shot-stopped.

Two minutes later and the visitors were dealt a blow, as Tilbury pulled a goal back to get themselves back in the contest. A long ball forward was flicked on by George Sykes, to Ryan Ramsey who curled the ball beyond Danny Sambridge who was unable to keep the effort out.

As the half drifted on, Tilbury began to grow in to the game and began to cause problems for the visiting defence, who were struggling to get to grips with the physicality. Both sets of sides were unable to create clear goal scoring opportunities, however the SeedGrowers had two chances to extend their lead, in the form of Nnamdi Nwachuku who was unable to capitalise on two of his free headers.

HALF TIME: Tilbury 1-2 Coggeshall Town

After a tough first half, Smith’s men started the second half at some space and extended their lead in quick-time. In the forty seventh minute, Nnamdi Nwachuku cut in from the right, dribbled past several Tilbury defenders before playing an ice cutting pace to his team mate, Ross Wall. Wall took one touch, before bending a delicious effort in to the bottom corner of the net past a helpless Madden.

Things got even better for the SeedGrowers, 5 minutes later. As the Town over turned possession in the middle of the park, Tevan Allen played a delightful pass over the Tilbury defence, Nwachuku was able to beat ex Coggeshall defender, Lance Atkins for pace and sent his effort comfortably in to the back of the net. To round of their impressive afternoon, Coggeshall scored their fifth and final goal in the sixtieth minute. Michael Gyasi was fouled inside the penalty area by defender, Darren Phillips. Up stepped, Nnamdi Nwachuku stepped up and dispatched his penalty in to the bottom of the corner for his second goal of the game.

With the home side appearing shellshocked after a blistering opening fifteen minutes to the second half, Coggeshall had many chances to extend their lead further, with Nwachuku, Gyasi, Jamie Shaw and Conor Hubble all having good chances, but goalkeeper, Madden was able to save his teams blushes and kept the difference in scoreline to four goals.
