Match Report

The Seedgrowers welcomed Brentwood Town in this season’s Essex Senior Cup quarter final in a riveting display.

The lads started off seemingly more composed than at the weekend prior, quick passing alongside stellar defending meant that the Seedgrowers held control of the game from the start. It wasn’t long before Jermaine Francis has netted as he walked the ball around the keeper and slotted it home, putting us ahead. Despite the pressure Brentwood’s back line had faced, the away side equalised just fifteen minutes later, as many noted the ball had left the field of play before the assisting pass was made, leaving fanw furious.

Half time: Coggeshall Town 1 – 1 Brentwood Town

Coggeshall made their substitutions in quick succession, but had before hand seemingly lost some composure when it came to passing and holding the ball. Tyler Brampton, Callum Harrison and JJ Wilson all made way for Jack Mochalski, Isaac Skubich and Makhosini Khanye. Former Seedgrower Rob Harvey also made his way onto the field for the opposition. Milo Grimes found himself denying the away side shortly after as he dived in the way of the ball, in order to make a goal-line clearance.

Teniola soon after brought us ahead as a beautifully weighted cross met his head, as he lofted the ball into the roof of the net. Just five minutes later, Rob Harvey had equalised in what seemed destined as he sent the game to penalties. Coggeshall however were triumphant at the end of the spot kicks, with two Brentwood players sending their efforts over the woodwork. Coggeshall go onto play Bowers and Pitsea away in the semi-final.
