100 Up For Monk

Coggeshall Town’s Tom Monk will make his 100th appearance for the club in Wednesday nights match at Wivenhoe. Monk will be the first player to reach the 100 appearance milestone since manager Graeme Smith took control of the team. Tom has an impressive goalscoring record during his time with the club notching 52 goals in his 99 appearances to date. Tom signed for Coggeshall initially on loan from Colchester United at the tail end of the 2014/15 season as he was coming towards the end of his two-year scholarship with the league two club. During his initial loan spell he made 10 appearances scoring 2 goals before signing on for the club on a permanent basis at the start of the following season. Tom helped the club win the Border League Premier Division and League Cup double in 2015/16 where he was virtually ever-present throughout the season. The club were promoted again the following season with Tom netting an impressive 22 goals in the Thurlow Nunn Division One as he was again a vital source of goals for the team. Tom had a slow start to the 2017/18 season after a lengthy lay-off after injury but has come back stronger than ever with some impressive performances of late and currently sits on 16 goals from 24 appearances as the team looks for a third successive promotion. Let’s hope we continue to see Tom in a Coggeshall shirt for many seasons to come. Well done “ Tommo “
