The FA Cup Returns

As Coggeshall continue to make history in their 140th year, Walton Casuals are the visitors to West Street on Saturday 22 September in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup. Just like the SeedGrowers, Walton Casuals required a replay in the last round, as they eventually overcame Beckenham Town, thanks to a 3-0 win at home in the replay.

Walton ply their trade in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South Division having last season featured in the Isthmian South Division where they finished in the play-off places, going on to win the play-off final and achieve promotion – they were then moved to the Evo-Stik league following a major restructure by the FA in the summer of 2018. Overall, Walton have had a mixed start to their league campaign. To date, they have played seven league games; losing three, winning two and also drawing two – they sit 14th within their league table. They are owned by ex West Ham professional Tony Gale, whilst his son, Anthony is the First Team manager of the Casuals and has been since 2015. Within their playing squad is ex Arsenal and Reading midfielder, James Harper who appeared over three hundred times for Reading with over 60 of those coming in the Premier League.

Graeme Smith will be without ever present midfielder, George Cocklin due to suspension whilst Curtis Haynes-Brown is available following his own suspension. Nnamdi Nwachuku is a major doubt for the game, having missed the last two fixtures through an injury he sustained in the dramatic replay win over Berkhamsted. Boss, Smith will likely have a slight selection headache with both Darren Mills and Kieran Bishop scoring their first goals of the season on Tuesday night as they look to push their way in to the starting eleven for the big cup game.

Ahead of the 15:00 kick off, why not come down to West Street nice and early? The bar will be open from 12:30 with several live football matches on display. Fulham vs Watford (Premier League), Lymington Town vs Torquay United (FA Cup) and Eastleigh vs Dagenham & Redbridge (National League) will all be shown live before the game against Walton Casuals kicks off.
