Following Saturday’s opening league fixture, the SeedGrowers now head in to Norfolk to take on Dereham Town for their first away fixture of the 2018/19 Isthmian League season.
Coggeshall picked up their first point of the 2018/19 season on Saturday against a team who look destined to contest for promotion this season, in Bowers & Pitsea. Graeme Smith was without several key squad members through injury and suspension including Tom Monk, Curtis Haynes-Brown, Nathan Fox & Daniel Cunningham.
The SeedGrowers managed to hold there own against an impressive Bowers outfit, especially in defence led by captain Luke Wilson. Several new signings made their debut for Smith’s side, including Kieran Bishop, Tevan Allen, Kevin Coyle, Aaron Condon and Khris Oti.
Dereham, also known as The Magpipes, had a tough start to the new campaign with an away trip against Aveley. The Magpipes found themselves on the end of a six-nil defeat on Saturday will certainly be looking to kick start their season this Saturday as the SeedGrowers visit Aldiss Park. Dereham originally joined the Isthmian League in 2013 after being crowned champions of the Eastern Counties League Division One in 2012-13.
Last season, Dereham finished in eight position, only twelve points outside of the play-off positions. Dereham will certainly provide another tough test for Coggeshall as they begin to adjust to life in the Isthmian League, especially as they will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing result on Saturday against Aveley.
