SeedGrowers Bostik Bow

On Saturday 11 August, Coggeshall Town will finally commence life in the Isthmian League following last seasons’ promotion from the Eastern Counties Premier Division.

The SeedGrowers could not have asked for a tougher test to commence their season, as Bowers & Pitsea visit West Street. Following their promotion from the Essex Senior League as Champions in 2016, Bowers have impressed in the Bostik North having finished just outside the play-offs in their first season and last season, they lost in the play-off semi-final to Canvey Island.

Highly rated manager, Rob Small has again assembled a side who look more than capable than achieving promotion from the Bostik North. With the additions of Richard Halle, Correy Davidson and Max Cornhill, as well as several other dangerous squad members, Bowers will certainly be a toughtest for Graeme Smith’s side.

As recently announced, the boys in red and black have their own new additions from last year’s championship winning side, including Kieran Bishop, Aaron Condon, Tevan Allen, Kevin Coyle, Josh Pollard, Nathan Fox, Lewis Soraf, George Smith and Kane Dobrowolski.

The two sides have not met in a competitive fixture since Bowers United absorbed Pitsea Football Club in 2004, adopting their current name. The SeedGrowers however have played Bowers United several times in the past, including for eleven consecutive seasons between 1976 and 1989 in the Essex Senior League. The two sides also met in 1978 in the first round of the FA Vase, with Coggeshall overcoming Bowers by two goals to one.

Ones To Watch;
For the SeedGrowers, it has to be attacking forward, Nnamdi Nwachuku. After scoring 96 goals in just 91 appearances for Coggeshall, he will certainly be looking to add to that tally against Bowers. Make sure you keep an eye out for the new boys in red and black who will all be desperate to make their West Street debuts.

After powering his side to the Bostik North Play-Off Semi-Final last season with twenty-one league goals, Lewis Manor will certainly be a threat to the SeedGrowers defence as he lines up for Bowers & Pitsea. In his partnership with Manor, the experienced David Knight will also be looking to impress after his fifteen goals in last year’s campaign.
