Match Report

Coggeshall Town got back to winning ways with an excellent display away from home at Saffron Walden. After tasting defeat for the first time the previous week the team were looking to bounce straight back to form. The match got underway with ” The Town ” unchanged in what looked like a tough place to get a result as Saffron Walden had been in good form recently. The visitors started very well and took the game to the home team right from the first whistle.Their was only 5 minutes on the clock when Coggeshall got their noses in front. Good Work from Conor Hubble and Josce Syrett led to the ball landing at Nnamdi Nwachuku’s feet 18 yards out who smashed the ball home into the far corner of the net giving the keeper no chance to save. It was a well deserved lead after an excellent start to the game. Disaster struck for Coggeshall soon after though as goalkeeper Darren Behcet had to leave the pitch after picking up a injury. With no substitute keeper on the bench outfield player Danny Scott put the gloves on and took his place between the posts. Saffron Walden looked to take advantage of this and tried to put pressure on the Coggeshall goal but they couldn’t break through with ” The Town ” defence led by skipper Luke Wilson defending well and Scott in goal making a couple of smart saves. Once things settled down and Coggeshall had defended Saffron Walden spell of pressure they started to dominate the game with Conor Hubble, Correy Davidson and Tom Colville all performing well in the midfield area. There was no further goals added in the first half but Nwachuku and Jamie Shaw had looked a real threat all through the half in the visitors frontline.

The match re-started with Coggeshall still on the front foot with the home team not really offering much going forward, what they did offer was dealt with comfortably by the ” The Town ” defenders with Jacob Partridge and Sam West putting in fine displays.Goal number two came on the hour after some great build up play led to the excellent Kamal Guthmy finishing well from 12 yards out to double the lead. After the second goal Coggeshall looked very comfortable and looked like they could add more goals and sure enough a third came 10 minutes later. This time Nwachuku was the provider, he combined well with Josce Syrett to deliver a cross to the far post where Jamie Shaw rise highest to head home for the third goal which put the result in no doubt with only a short time left to play. With only minutes remaining the stand in keeper Danny Scott made a good save to preserve the team’s clean sheet as they saw the game out well to gain all 3 points.

It was a tremendous all round team performance to achieve the win and puts the team back on track.Coggeshall are away from home again this Saturday when they Travel to Thetford Town who are also flying high in the division.
