Coggeshall Town suffered their first defeat in 18 games away at Newmarket but still remain top of the table with two games to play.Coggeshall’s fate wasn’t helped by having two players sent off during the match, Daniel Cunningham was shown a straight red early on in the first half, and skipper Luke Wilson was also given his marching orders midway through the second half leaving “ The Town “ to finish the game with nine men. Coggeshall had fell behind after 20 minutes despite making a good start to the game.The visitors got back on level terms before half-time through Edilson Cruz after some good work out wide from Kamal Guthmy. Newmarket got back in front with 15 minutes to go and despite only having nine men on the pitch at this stage Coggeshall pushed hard for an equaliser but just couldn’t force another goal. As the final whistle went the team had tasted defeat for the first time in a long while but can be proud of the way they fought especially after the sendings off. The team now finish the season with two massive games against the two teams directly below them in the table starting at Felixstowe Tuesday night.
