Match Report

Coggeshall Town progressed into the next round of the League Cup with a great performance away at Clacton. In an even first half the visitors created the best of the chances with Nnamdi Nwachuku and Aaron Cosgrave both going close. Coggeshall were solid at the back with James Bransgrove in “ The Town “ goal rarely troubled. Coggeshall took the lead on 30 minutes after an excellent through ball from Conor Hubble released Nwachuku who burst into the box to finish well. Despite plenty of possession, Coggeshall couldn’t add to their tally before the brake so went in at half-time 1 goal up.

The second half began with Coggeshall going straight on the attack looking for the all-important second goal. Coggeshall forced several corners which they eventually managed to get the second goal from. Conor Hubble swung in a dangerous looking ball into the box which evaded everyone apart from a Clacton defender who in trying to clear only ended up turning the ball into his own net to double “ The Town’s “ lead.Goal number 3 also came from a set piece with Jack Hayes heading in from another corner for his first goal for the club to put Coggeshall 3 up and effectively put Coggeshall into the next round as Clacton looked to have given up at that point. There was time for two more goals with Tom Monk finishing well after a solo run, then Monk was the provider for Nwachuku to score his second on the night and Coggeshall’s fifth with no reply from Clacton. As the final whistle sounded it meant Coggeshall had booked their place in the next round of the League Cup with a very good win.
