Match Report

Coggeshall Town moved into top spot of the Thurlow Nunn League Division One with a very good away win at Cornard. The team arrived at Cornard in good form after 3 straight wins but were expecting a tough test against there hosts who themselves went into the game on the back of a 4 – 1 win. The pitch conditions looked testing as the surface was very dry and quite bumpy in places.

Coggeshall took to the field with a unchanged starting eleven and soon got into there stride after the home team had probably had the better of the opening exchanges. With only 5 minutes on the clock ” The Town ” took the lead, a long ball over the top sent Tom Monk away down the right hand side who crossed for Shamido Pedulu to finish from close range. It was the perfect start for the away team and the early goal seemed to stun Cornard. Coggeshall continued to press and had the bulk of the early possession limiting the home team to the occasional break away. Goal number two soon followed, it was a very well worked goal with many players involved in the build up, Abednego Mensah played the ball forward then there was some nice interchange play between George Cocklin and Kane Dobrowlski who fed the ball into Nnamdi Nwachuku who turned well to fire past the Cornard keeper.” The Town ” we’re in full flow now and we’re looking very dangerous although Stefano De Felice in the Coggeshall goal had to make a smart save to keep the home team out at the other end. Coggeshall went 3 up after half hour with Dobrowlski scoring from long range with a effort that found the top corner giving the Cornard keeper no chance. Goal number 4 came before half time this time it was Dobrowlski who was the provider for Monk to finish, Dobrowlski got away from the Cornard defender and supplied a pin point cross for Monk to finish at the far post.As half time came ” The Town ” had a 4 goal cushion and the home team looked like they were struggling to contain the attacking threat of Coggeshall.

The second half began a bit more evenly with Cornard creating a couple of chances but again De Felice who was making his first start for Coggeshall saved well. Shamido Pedulo and Nnamdi Nwachuku both went close for Coggeshall as they looked for goal number 5. The fifth goal arrived on the hour with Tom Monk bursting through the Cornard defence to round the keeper and slot home for his second of the night. The home team pulled one back not long after to make the score 5-1 and that is how it stayed to the finish to give Coggeshall another excellent away victory.

There was several stand out performances but George Cocklin had a excellent game in the Coggeshall Midfield and Kane Dobrowlski was a constant threat all night.

The players would like to thank the many supporters who made the trip over to Cornard on the night, it was great to see so many of our followers there, your support is really appreciated.

The team are back at home on Saturday when Bury Town visit West Street.
