Coggeshall Town bounced back in style after the previous weeks defeat with a convincing win at West Street, against a Kings Lynn team who had themselves been on a six match unbeaten run. Conditions were excellent as the game got underway with Coggeshall looking to keep the pressure on the teams above them in the league.

The game started at a brisk pace with both teams looking to get on the ball early. It was the home team who edged things though as they set about putting last weeks defeat behind them. Coggeshall were looking very dangerous with the returning Darren Mills looking a real handful in ” The Town ” frontline. It was Mills who broke the deadlock after 20 minutes after he finished from 6 yards out after powering his way through after a good ball into the box from Danny Scott to put the home team 1 up. It was a great start for Coggeshall who had the better of the possession in the early stages. Goal number two soon followed again from Mills, this time though Kamal Guthmy was the provider delivering a cross into the box that Jamie Shaw probably should have scored with but the ball finally fell to Mills who finished neatly from close range. Shaw did get on the scoresheet next though after a great through ball from Danny Mills set him away to finish with a great left foot shot from the angle of the penalty box. With a three goal lead ” The Town ” now looked pretty comfortable with Kings Lynn offering little at the other end with Matt Walker in goal having a quiet afternoon. The half time whistle went leaving Coggeshall very happy with their first half display.

The second half started with Kings Lynn coming out trying their best to get back into the game, they had their best spell of the game at this point but could still not find away to register a goal with Liam Thomas and Sean Radley looking solid at the heart of the Coggeshall defence. As the half went on the home team took over again and were looking very dangerous every time they went on the attack. Goal number four was a great long range effort from Kamal Guthmy who shot from 20 yards out to find the top corner giving the Kings Lynn keeper no chance. With 20 minutes to go ” The Town ” were reduced to 10 men after Tyrone Scarlett was sent off harshly for two bookable offences. Even with a player less Coggeshall continued to take the game to their opponents and even went on to score a fifth with Nnamdi Nwachuku scoring the best goal of the game after a solo run ended up with him scoring from distance with a excellent strike into the top corner. That goal completed the scoring and wrapped up the 3 points which moved the team back into second place in the league within striking distance of the leaders.

The team have a tough week ahead of them as Cornard United are the visitors to West Street Tuesday, then they travel to Holland on Friday night
