Coggeshall Town earned a point at West Street against a tough Holland team but will probably feel they should have collected all three on based on the balance of play. The game got underway in very hot conditions with the pitch hard underfoot after the recent dry spell. The tempo of the game wasn’t great with neither team really getting going during the opening exchanges. The home team created the first opportunities with Darren Mills going close with a header,  after being put through by George Cocklin.  Aaron Cosgrove probably should of scored after being one on one with the Holland keeper but neither efforts registered to keep the scores level. Coggeshall were starting to get the better of things when Holland scored against the run of play with a header from a corner to take the lead. That goal sparked ” The Town” into life and after that they really got on top of Holland and started to move the ball around well looking dangerous when going forward. It wasn’t long until they were back on level terms after a corner was swung into the visitors box got cleared only as far as Josh Dalziel who headed in from distance to level things up. Coggeshall were now in command as Holland defended well to keep the scores level. There was no more goals in the remainder of the first half so the teams went in 1-1 as the half time whistle sounded.

The second half started much the same way as the first had finished with ” The Town ” on the front foot looking more likely to score but without threatening the away team’s goal that often as Holland defended deeply. Midway through the second half Holland came back into things and had their best spell but Coggeshall stood firm and defended well to keep them out. Coggeshall’s best chance to take the lead fell to Tom Monk who’s shot from just inside the box was saved well by the Holland keeper. Coggeshall then had a penalty shout turned down by the referee after Monk was pulled down inside the penalty area only for the referee to give a freekick outside the box which came to nothing. Both teams kept going to the end and cancelled each other out in the final stages as it looked like everyone had settled for a draw. As the final whistle went the scores were level and Coggeshall will be satisfied that it was another point gained towards their bid for promotion but may feel they could of nicked all 3.

It was a good all round battling team performance with George Cocklin and Henri Okosi catching the eye in the midfield and goal scorer Josh Dalziel also performing well at the back alongside Sean Radley. The team are back on the road next week when they travel to Leiston.
