Match Report

Coggeshall Town chalked up another win to continue there good start to the season after gaining all 3 points against tough opposition in Team Bury in front of another healthy looking crowd at West Street.

On another hot day the game got underway with Coggeshall taking the game to there opponents who had turned up at West Street very organised lining up to try and shut out the home team after they had scored plenty of goals in recent games. The away team were getting plenty of men behind the ball and were really on the counter attack. It made it hard for ” The Town ” to create many clear cut chances early on but as the half went on the constant pressure in the Team Bury half began to open up some cracks in there defence and Nnamdi Nwachuku went close twice to opening the score. The Bury keeper was kept busy all first half making many good saves to keep the score level. Coggeshall kept pressing but could not break the deadlock despite George Cocklin and Matt Southwell pulling all the strings in the midfield areas. The match reached the break level but ” The Town ” had dominated the game but Bury were proving a tough nut to crack.

The second half began much the same as the first half finished but Coggeshall seemed to be moving the ball round quicker now and were looking far more of a threat in the final third. Shamido Pedulu was starting to have a real influence in the match for Coggeshall as his constant running wasn’t giving the Bury back line any rest. Out wide for Coggeshall Kane Dobrowlski was starting to see more of the ball and the home team were starting to sense a breakthrough might be close. Team Bury kept battling away with some good defending and again there keeper had to make several smart saves but the deadlock was broken on 60 minutes. A nice ball forward from Abednego Mensah sent Pedulu away down the left hand side he went past two Bury defenders and got into the box, just at the point that it looked like he had over run it he managed to cut back round another defender and somehow squeeze a shot in at the far post. It was Pedulu’s 4th goal in 3 games and he has certainly started well In front of goal since his move to West Street. That seemed to dent Bury’s confidence as they had worked so hard to hang on for so long. Coggeshall were now looking to finish the visitors off by scoring a second and were now looking good for a home win. The second goal came with around 15 minutes to go after Nwachuku broke through the Bury defence to fire home into the bottom corner to finally see of Bury who had shown stubborn resistance for most of the game. The final whistle went leaving ” The Town ” still sitting top of the table and unbeaten.

There was standout performances from George Cocklin in midfield and Shamido Pedulu who was excellent throughout whole Nico Farthing kept things tight at the back too.

The team are in Essex Senior Cup action on Wednesday when they travel to Barkingside, the fixture should of been a home match at West Street but has been reversed due to our floodlight not being fully operational yet so Barkingside have offered to host the game at their ground.
