Coggeshall Town bounced back from two successive defeats in style with a fine home win against Braintree Town Reserves at West Street. In front of a excellent crowd of over 300 who had turned out in force to witness the clubs first game under its new floodlights the game got of to a fast paced start but the quality of play in the opening minutes wasn’t great from either team. As things settled down it was Coggeshall who started to get the better of things with George Cocklin in ” The Town ” midfield driving the home team on. As the half went on Coggeshall were starting to look dangerous going forward with both wide players Tom Monk and Kane Dobrowlski causing lots of problems for the Braintree defenders. It was Monk who scored the opener after a great run down the right hand side ended up with him cutting inside the last defender to fire home to give Coggeshall the lead on the 30 minute mark. The home side continued to press in search of goal number two limiting Braintree to the odd break away, although Matt Walker in goal was called into action on a couple occasions to make smart saves to keep the visitors out. The second goal was a great finish from Nnamdi Nwachuku who turned and volleyed home from distance when it looked like he had few options, it was a real goal out of nothing and was number 20 for the season for Nwachuku. As the first half drew to a close Coggeshall went in with a deserved 2 goal cushion.

The second half got underway with both teams looking for the next all important goal, in truth it was Braintree who had the better of the opening exchanges, as they had there best spell of the game.” The Town ” stood firm though with some great defending from the back four keeping the away team out. With Braintree pressing hard to get back in the game they started to leave gaps at the back which Coggeshall exploited fully. Coggeshall scored a third again from Tom Monk after he had been played through by Nwachuku. After the third went in it seemed to dent the confidence of the Braintree team and it now looked likely that “The Town” could go on and score more as they now looked in full flow and were playing some excellent football. Goal number four soon followed with Monk completing his hatrick after the ball fell to him just inside the box were he unleashed a great strike on goal which the Braintree keeper saved, the ball came back to Monk who again fired back at goal this time beating the keeper with a shot into the far corner. Monk had been a real handful all night for the Braintree backline and went on to score his fourth of the night shortly after with another great effort on goal to put ” The Town ” 5 up with around 10 minutes to go. It was one way traffic now as the young Braintree team seemed to tire with Coggeshall dominating all over the park with the impressive George Cocklin still pulling all the strings in the middle of the park along with Sean Radley. Coggeshall finished of the scoring with Jordan Palmer finishing well from close range to score his first for the club to make the final score 6-0 at full time. It was a great all round display from the team with a clean sheet at one end and some great goals at the other in a performance that looked far more like the team that had started the season so well up until last weeks poor results.

This result should boost confidence right back up as the team travel to Stansted on Tuesday night when they are in Essex Senior Cup action. The club would like to thank the many supporters who turned out on the night, there was a great atmosphere in the ground and hopefully everyone went away happy as the team put on a great display.
