Match Preview – Canvey Island

The SeedGrowers welcome the Seagulls to West Street for only their fourth home league game of the campaign, having not lost a game at home yet – Coggeshall have won one and drawn two from their three league games at home to date. Graeme Smith will go in to the match looking to improve on last weeks defensive display away to Romford whilst looking to collect the side’s fourth win of the Isthmian League season. It will be a tough ask for the home side who again will be without several first team players, mainly thanks to a number of lengthy injuries.

Canvey Island come in to the match just one place below Coggeshall in the league table, having been tipped for promotion at the start of the season after just missing out on reaching the Bostik Premier division in the last campaign – losing to Haringey Borough in the play-off final. The Segulls have played a game more than Coggeshall – played 8, won three, drawn three and lost their other two fixtures. Their last away trip in the league was to Maldon & Tiptree, were they overcame the Jammers by two goals to one. Canvey have had some positive news in the last few days, with experienced midfielder Jack Simmons returning to the club from East Thurrock of the National League South. The SeedGrowers will have to be on their game to prevent strikers Martin Tuohy and Jordon Cox from scoring in the match, they have already notched 14 goals between them this season.
