An interview with Kieran Bishop

Following his recent move to West Street from Grays Athletic, Kieran Bishop recently caught up with Media Officer, Richard Buckby for a question and answer session on all things Coggeshall Town, his hopes for the up and coming season, along with his recent social media frenzy!

RB; Kieran, welcome to West Street. You’ve signed for the club after a spell with Grays Athletic, how did the move come about?

KB; Thank you and it really is a pleasure to be here! I was contacted after the end of last season was told that the club were keen to have a chat with me in regards to signing. I had already heard about the club due to their social media presence and how well they had done in their previous seasons, so I was half tempted to join the club before I spoke to Graeme and after our conversation it was a no brainer to move to West Street.

RB; You’ve signed for the #SeedGrowers as they prepare for their first season in the Isthmian League. What are you most looking forward to this season?

KB; Now that I’ve put pen to paper, I’m excited to say that I’m looking forward to the season starting. I’m really looking forward to getting know all the boys properly and contributing to the #SeedGrowers avoiding relegation and staying in the Bostik North.

RB; What has surprised you the most about Coggeshall Town since you joined the club?

KB; What’s surprised me about the club so far? It has to be how well gelled the boys are and the relationship between the management team and the players. It’s good to see everyone in it together, no matter what the result.

RB; Some of our supporters may not of heard about you, prior to signing for the club. How would you describe your playing style and what would you say your best attribute is?

KB; You’re never going to be known everywhere you go, so that doesn’t phase me. As the season goes on, I am sure the fans will get to know me and I’ll get to know them. My best attribute is my pace and my finishing, but not from 5 yards out, as Olly would probably tell you – ha, ha!

RB; You’ve previously played for Ware and Harlow amongst other clubs, how do you feel your experience is going to assist your fellow team mates?

KB; Everyone is experienced in the squad in their own way which is good as it brings out different qualities in each other. My best traits are that I’ve always been a calm, encouraging and positive type of player, so hopefully I can add to the positivity and encouragement around the dressing room.

RB; As we prepare for the opening day fixture against Bowers & Pitsea, have you set yourself any personal targets for the 2018/19 season?

KB; I never set up for a season without setting goals and targets to achieve! So I have done the same for this season too…

RB; The Bostik North looks like it’s going to be as strong as ever this season, what are your expectations as we head in to the new season?

KB; My ultimate aim is to contribute to the #SeedGrowers staying up in the league, ensuring that club is stable within the Bostik North.

RB. Away from football, your own Twitter account has been very lively following your impressive dancing with Jack from Love Island. How have you managed to deal with the high amount of national coverage?

KB; I have never trended on social media before but it was a good feeling, my phone did not stop buzzing and it is still buzzing! But in all seriousness, all the attention was for Jack, I was just happy to see him after he was away for so long! He has done his family and friends proud and he deserves all the success that comes his way!

Once again, everyone at West Street would like to welcome Kieran to the club and we look forward to seeing him in action throughout the 2018/19 season.
