Coggeshall Town kept up their fine run of results with a good performance against a strong Diss Town Side who were also challenging around the top of the table. The pitch at West Street was in excellent condition and a good crowd was again in attendance to watch what looked a tough fixture. It was Coggeshall who made the best start with some great free flowing football right from the first whistle as they looked to create a opening to score the first goal.  As the game settled down Diss came back into it and started to show why they were sitting 5th in the division as they were looking dangerous in attack but ” The Town ” defence held firm with Liam Thomas and Josh Dalziel at the centre of defence looking in no mood to concede. Diss had their best spell as half time approached without really creating any efforts on the home team goal but Coggeshall were looking dangerous on the break with Matt Southwell and George Cocklin supplying the ammunition to Nnamdi Nwachuku and Tyronne Scarlett who both went close to breaking the deadlock. The first half drew to a close with the scores still level at 0-0 which was probably fair as it had been a even half.

The second half got underway and continued much the same as the first with both teams playing well in a tight match with few chances on goal. As the half went on ” The Town ” gradually began to get on top and With Nwachuku and Tom Monk becoming a real handful for the Diss defenders. It was these two players who combined well after a great through pass from Matt Southwell to get the opening goal, it was Nwachuku who drove the ball home from 10 yards out after Monk had beat his defender and delivered into the box.It had been a long time coming but Coggeshall deserved their lead after they had put Diss under some considerable pressure leading up to the goal. Coggeshall were now in free flow and were looking very dangerous and the second goal soon followed. Matt Rose combined with Nwachuku down the left hand side and sent Monk away who beat two defenders before cutting inside and scoring from a tight angle with a superb finish. The home team now looked full of confidence after they had done a great job in wearing Diss down who now looked a beaten side. Coggeshall went further ahead on 75 minutes with Matt Southwell firing home from just inside the box again after some fine build up play from Monk and Nwachuku.” The Town ” were now putting on a real performance for the home crowd and looked likely to score every time they went forward, and they finished of the scoring with 5 minutes to go with the excellent Tom Monk adding his second of the game with a delightful chip after a great ball from deep from a Josh Dalziel. As the final whistle went it gave Coggeshall a convincing 4 – 0 win but they had to work hard for it as Diss had been stubborn opposition to break down.

It was another real team performance with everyone playing their part but as last week Dalziel and Thomas looked very solid at the back with George Cocklin full of energy in the midfield, but the the second half performances from Tom Monk and Nnamdi Nwachuku gave Coggeshall the advantage with their ruthless finishing the difference between the teams. The team are on the road again next Saturday when they have the long trip to Kings Lynn ahead of them.
