SeedGrowers Start With A Draw

The Seedgrowers welcomed Bowers & Pitsea to West Street for their debut in the Isthmian League. Graeme Smith introduced several of his new signings to the starting eleven including Kieran Bishop and Tevan Allen. Curtis Haynes-Brown and Nathan Fox were both unavailable due to injury.

Play-Off Semi-Finalists Bowers & Pitsea started on the front foot, and David Knight almost gave them the lead after a matter of minutes however he was unable to connect with a cross from the left. Throughout the opening exchanges of the game, Bowers had several chances to open their account for the season, however neither Lewis Manor or Jamie Dicks were able to capitalise on their long throws and dangerous set pieces.

The Seedgrowers had their opening chance of the game as the dangerous Nnamdi Nwachuku saw his effort from the edge of the box deflected for a corner. Mid-way through the first half, Dicks of Bowers received the first caution of the game, for a dangerous tackle just inside his own half.

Both sides had chances to opening the score as the game approached half-time. Lewis Manor had the best chance for Bowers, however was unable to capitalise from just 8 yards as he stepped on the ball, rather than testing Bransgrove. Kieran Bishop then had the best chance for Coggeshall just before the break, however his forceful short took a slightly deflection and was smartly saved by Andrew Wilton in the Bowers goal.

After a nervy start to the first half, the Seedgrowers started the second half in impressive fashion and began to control the game. Kieran Bishop had the first chance of the half, after fantastic skill from Nwachuku found Bishop near the front post however his left footed effort sailed wide of the post.

As the game began to get a little bit spicy, Bowers & Pitsea collected several yellow cards in quick succession, whilst David Knight missed a glorious chance to give his side the lead. Connor Hubble collected the first yellow card for the Seedgrowers after sixty eight minutes, for a number of fouls, rather than the tackle itself.

As Coggeshall dominated, Nwachuku saw his volleyed effort go wide of the post, whilst Bishop also missed the target from twelve yards after another good piece of skill from Nwachuku. Aaron Condon was introduced to the game after seventy three minutes for his debut, as he replaced another debutant Bishop.

Pitsea had a few chances throughout the second half, with Knight having the pick of the chances. Knight fired over the bar from around twelve yards, when he really should have tested the keeper and that was their best chance of the second half. Manor, who was a handful all afternoon, was kept quiet by Wilson and Shaw at the back, after a dominate defensive display.

As Bowers continued to utilise their long-throws and dangerous set-pieces, however Bransgrove continued to dominate and command his eighteen yard box, collecting the majority of the balls in to the box. With four minutes on the clock, Khris Oti replaced Ross Wall as the Seedgrowers searched for their opening goal of the season and three points.
