Match Report

Coggeshall Town picked up a valuable three points on the road at Ely with a comprehensive 6-0 win. Conditions were tough at Ely as the game kicked off with “The Town “ looking to continue their fine run of form. The visitors got off to a great start after a scrappy opening they took the lead with a neat finish from Ross Wall after 20 minutes.
Coggeshall started to dominate the home team after the opening goal and the pressure soon told with an Ely defender bringing down Wall in the box to concede a penalty. Nnamdi Nwachuku stepped up confidently to fire home from the spot to make it 2-0. It was one-way traffic now with Ely offering little at the other end. Goal number three came just before the break after skipper Luke Wilson headed home from a Daniel Cunningham free-kick. As the referee sounded the whistle for half time Coggeshall were satisfied with their 3 goal lead.

The second half started with “The Town “again on the front foot and it wasn’t long before Conor Hubble made it 4-0 bursting through the home defence to score after good work from Nwachuku. Nwachuku the made it 5-0 cutting in from the left to finish brilliantly past the Ely keeper. Nwachuku completed his hatrick after 70 mins to make the score 6-0 with twenty minutes to play. This completed the scoring to give Coggeshall an excellent 6-0 victory away from home.
The win consolidated the teams second place position in the league.
