Match Report

Coggeshall got back to winning ways with a great win at West Street against Wivenhoe to regain second spot in the League. Coggeshall started well pushing back Wivenhoe into their own half for the majority of the time as they looked to gain an early advantage. After going close on a couple of occasions Coggeshall took a deserved lead after 20 minutes after Tom Monk volleyed home from the edge of the box with a tremendous finish after a cross from Kamal Guthmy. Coggeshall continued to dominate and went further ahead after Nnamdi Nwachuku scored with a neat finish shooting across the Wivenhoe keeper. Goal number three soon followed again from Nwachuku with this one being a contender for goal of the season after he beat two players out wide then cut inside to drive a excellent shot into the top corner giving the keeper no chance to save. The Home team continued to press Wivenhoe back who now looked anbeaten side. The constant pressure led to the visitors conceding a freekick on the edge of their box which Conor Hubble stepped up to take, Hubble curled the ball over the wall into the far corner to put “ The Town “ four goals up. No further goals were added as the whistle sounded for half time.

Coggeshall got off to a great start in the second half with Aaron Cosgrave getting free from his marker to score with a good finish from just inside the box to give Coggeshall a five goal lead and put the result beyond doubt. Coggeshall played possession football for the remainder of the half creating some opportunities to score but just couldn’t manage to add to their tally.

The 5-0 result was just what the team needed to get them back on track in front of a great Friday night crowd who had come out to support the team in numbers. The team have no midweek action this week so have plenty of time to prepare for their trip to Ely on Saturday.
