Match Report

Coggeshall Town gained another 3 points at home with a comprehensive victory over Thetford. It was revenge for Coggeshall who had suffered defeat at Thetford earlier in the season. The West Street pitch was again in excellent condition on a bright but cold afternoon .The home team got off to a flying start after Aaron Cosgrave gave them the lead on 5 mins finishing well after a cross to the far post from Nnamdi Nwachuku. Coggeshall continued to attack with Thetford looking shell-shocked after conceding so early and it was only minutes later that the second goal went in, this time Nwachuku was the scorer finishing well just inside the post from 18 yards out. After some great build-up play from George Cocklin and Daniel Cunningham the ball fell to Ross Wall just inside the box who drilled a shot into the far corner on 20 mins to put “ The Town “ three goals up. At this point the visitors had no answers to the power and pace of the Coggeshall frontline who looked like scoring with every attack. There was a period in during the rest of the half when Thetford came back into things but they never threatened James Bransgrove’s goal. Coggeshall had time for one more in the first half with Cosgrave scoring his second just before the half-time break to give Coggeshall a 4-0 lead at the interval.

The second half started much the same way as the first half finished with “ The Town “ looking a real threat going forward with skipper Luke Wilson keeping a tight backline at the other end.Two more goals followed in the second half with no reply from Thetford.Aaron Cosgrave went on to complete his hat-trick and Jack Curtis Smashed in the sixth and final goal after a mistake from a Thetford defender.

It was a satisfying afternoon’s work from Coggeshall who maintain their good run of recent form, the result takes them back into second place in the league table.
