Match Report

Coggeshall Town kept up their good run of form in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division with an excellent away win at Long Melford. Despite going behind midway through the first half after the referee awarded Melford a very dubious looking penalty which they took the lead from, Coggeshall came back to win the game in comfortable fashion. The visitors started the game well and after the setback of going behind they got back on level terms before half-time, after George Cocklin picked up a loose ball in midfield and played an excellent through pass for Nnamdi Nwachuku who carried the ball past the last Melford defender to finish well past the keeper. That goal levelled the scores up at the break.

The second half got underway with Coggeshall taking control of the game offering Melford little opportunity to threaten their goal.Coggeshall started to dominate the midfield area with Conor Hubble, Daniel Cunningham and George Cocklin putting in a real shift.” The Town “ were looking dangerous out wide to with a Josce Syrett and Aaron Cosgrave both giving the Melford defenders a torrid time. The second goal came on 60 mins after Syrett picked up the ball out wide to beat his defender and delivery a dangerous ball into the box, which evaded everyone and flew into the top corner to double Coggeshall’s lead. The third goal came on 70 mins after more good work out wide this time from Aaron Cosgrave who cut inside and played in Conor Hubble who scored with an excellent strike from just inside the box.The third goal effectively wrapped up the points at this stage with Melford now offering very little with James Bransgrove a virtual spectator in the Coggeshall goal. Coggeshall saw out the final minutes of the game in complete control to claim another 3 points.

The team have midweek action this week when they travel to Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night in the next round of The Essex Senior Cup but return to West Street on Saturday when Walsham are the visitors in the league.
