Coggeshall travelled to bottom side Leiston looking for another victory to move them closer to promotion. As the team’s took to the field it was clear this match was not going to be full of quality as the pitch condition was one of the worst that the team had come across all season with the surface hard, bumpy and very patchy making it difficult to move the ball around. The match got underway with Coggeshall starting well having lots of early pressure keeping Leiston pinned in their own half. Kamal Guthmy had started very well out wide and was delivering some good crosses into the box but the visitors front two of Darren Mills and Jamie Shaw just couldn’t convert any of them to break the deadlock. Coggeshall continued to press and were creating plenty of opportunities with Josce Syrett beating  his fullback well to get a shot off which went narrowly wide.” The Town ” finally went ahead after 30 minutes after a good ball forward from Tom Colville sent Darren Mills away who burst into the box and finished  well just inside the near post. The pattern play continued the same up to half time with no further addition to the scoreline to give Coggeshall a slender one-goal lead at the break.

The second half got underway with Coggeshall again pressing the home team back and limiting them to the odd break away into Coggeshall territory. The visitors continued to create chance after chance but couldn’t find the all-important second goal, Colville went close and Mills struck a post with a good effort from the edge of the box but still they couldn’t put the game to bed.  The second goal eventually came after some good build up play from George Cocklin and Henri Okosi ended up with Kamal Guthmy getting past the last defender, as he attempted to go round the Leiston keeper he was brought down giving the referee no option but to award ” The Town ” a penalty. Guthmy picked himself up to take the penalty himself a slotted it home right into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance.  That goal killed off Leiston who had been trying hard to stay in the game and goal number three soon followed. Darren Mills was fouled about 25 yards out from goal on the angle to give Coggeshall a freekick, Tyrone Scarlett stepped up to take it a drove a tremendous finish across the keeper into the far side top corner to effectively wrap up the 3 points for Coggeshall. With the game now all but over ” The Town ” played out the final few minutes to keep a clean sheet and at the final whistle they were well pleased with the 3-0 away win to move them another step closer to promotion at the first attempt.The team

The team are back at home on Monday when Wisbech are the visitors to West Street in which is sure to be another tough test.
