Coggeshall Town maintained their good run of form after coming from behind to gain a point a Bury. On the balance of play and the chances created in the second half they really should have gone on and gained all three points. The conditions at Bury were atrocious with heaven rain before and during the game making the playing surface a real mud bath making it impossible to play any sort of football.
The second half began with the pitch now virtually unplayable with the ball not rolling properly and players finding it tough to stay on their feet. The match turned into complete scrap with ” The Town” coming out on top as they battered the Bury
Defence for long periods. Coggeshall hit the woodwork 3 times during the second half twice through Darren Mills and once from Luke Clark. The Bury keeper made a string of excellent saves to keep the home team level as Coggeshall just couldn’t break through. The visitors also had two penalty appeals turned down one of which was a blatant hand ball but the referee who had arrived late for the kickoff never seemed to recover from his rushed preparation failed to give the correct decision adding to ” The Town’s ” frustration. As the game entered the final stages Coggeshall were still pressing for the winning goal but they could not convert any of the many chances they created.
The final whistle went with the scores level at 1-1 which was hard to take for Coggeshall who had dominated Bury all over the pitch for the majority of the game but just could not get their noses in front. The whole team put in good performances on a treacherous pitch which ended up being a real leveller on the day. The team approach the end of the year now with two home games, the first being a tough looking fixture against Woodbridge on Saturday at West Street.
