Match Report

Coggeshall Town came away from Kings Lynn with a hard earned point against one of the best opponents they have played this season. After the long trip to Kings Lynn “The Town” made a good start to the game and could of gone ahead early after Tom Monk went close. As the half went on it was obvious that Kings Lynn were going to be a tough nut to crack as they played with a real hunger and desire and they certainly were performing better than their league position suggested. It was a really even game with neither team creating much in the way of goal scoring opportunities but Matt Walker did save well on two occasions in the away team’s goal to keep the scores level. It was a similar story right to the break in what was turning out to be a tight affair with both defences playing well.

The second half got underway with “The Town” looking far more creative as they started to open up Kings Lynn with Nnamdi Nwachuku and Tom Monk having more influence on the game but they could still not find away through. It was the Lynn keeper who had to make the saves in the second half to keep his team in the game with Tyrone Scarlett and Matt Southwell both coming closest to breaking the deadlock for Coggeshall. The remainder of the game played out in a similar fashion with both teams going for the win but both defences holding firm. As the final whistle sounded it brought a end to a entertaining 0-0 draw which Coggeshall will be reasonably satisfied with as it keeps them at the top of the league as we move into November which everyone would have taken if they would have been offered it at the start of the season.

The team are back at West Street on Tuesday night in Cup action again Premier Division Brantham Athletic and then again on Saturday when Haverhill Borough are the visitors.
