Match Report

Coggeshall Town picked up another away win against the leagues bottom team Dereham on Saturday. The match got underway with the young home team coming out of the blocks fast as they tried to take the game to the visitors in the early stages. As the half went on and things started to settle down it was ” The Town ” who took control and started to dominate possession with George Cocklin very influential in the midfield area and Kieran Adams looking a threat out wide. Coggeshall forced a corner on the half hour mark which was swung in by Cocklin, after the initial challenge in the box the ball fell to Liam Thomas who calmly slotted home with a neat shot from 12 yards out to give Coggeshall a deserved lead. Dereham came back strong after conceding and did create one or two chances but failed to get back on level terms before the break so ” The Town ” went in at half time 1 – 0 ahead.

The second half got underway with Coggeshall on the front foot right from the start and looking likely to score again. It wasn’t long before they doubled their lead with Nnamdi Nwachuku going through to score after a excellent through ball from Matt Southwell. Goal number three soon followed after Kieran Adams got on the end of a cross at the far post to finish well from close range to score his first goal for the club. With the result effectively over Coggeshall started to play some excellent possession football making it extremely hard for Dereham to keep in the game and it looked likely more goals would follow. Coggeshall went close on several occasions with efforts from Tom Monk and Matt Southwell but it was Leading goal scorer Nnamdi Nwachuku who finished off the scoring with two excellent strikes to complete his hatrick on the day and make the final score 5 – 0 in what was a comfortable afternoons work. The result keeps ” The Town” towards the top of the table and is good preparation for next Saturday’s visit to Wisbech who are also going well in the league.
